Today is one of the important days in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania, Southern Diocese where the new Parish of Masaulwa has been opened today in the Kidugala district. This Parish was born from the mother congregation of Kidugala. The opening service was led by the Bishop of the Southern Diocese accompanied by the Assistant Bishop of the Southern Diocese, the district pastor, as well as several pastors of the Southern Diocese. The service was also attended by various leaders from the head quarter of the Diocese including the General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Audit Office and many others.

This service was preceded by the opening of the new Parish office which will be used for the activities of the Masaulwa Parish. Reading the construction report of the office, Pastor Neto Msigwa (Pastor of Kidugala Parish) said that preparations for the construction of the office began in 2022 and will be completed this year 2025. But the construction report also outlined the various costs incurred to complete this work, in general the construction of the office cost Tsh. 27,094,000/=

After opening the Parish office, the opening service of the house of worship followed, and the confirmation or blessing of the worship utensils and equipment, including robes, pastor’s tools, sacramental vessels, chairs, and other items.

Reading the history of Masaulwa Parish before the Bishop, Pastor Neto Msigwa said this preaching point was established in 1961 under the leadership of Evangelist Stephano Lihweuli, but this district has also been served by various evangelists. Masaulwa station was established in 2018 under the leadership of Pastor Yohana Mwambenengo with Baraka Kimaiya as the station pastor and Izack Chungu as the evangelist.

In the 6th Lord’s Day Service after Trinity, the Bishop in his sermon today emphasized strengthening love in our lives. Also, the establishment of the Masaulwa Parish should be part of strengthening love so that we can fulfill God’s purposes in this congregation.
