Graduation Ceremony at Ilembula Vocational Training College

Ilembula Vocational Training College, jointly owned by the Makambako and Ilembula Districts (MAIL) under the Southern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT), held its annual graduation ceremony on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the college grounds.

Opening Service

The ceremony was preceded by a special service led by Rev. Sauli Mpimbi, District pastor of the Ilembula District, assisted by Rev. Jilaoneka Mpolo, Assistant of District pastor of the Makambako District, together with Rev. Onesphoro Mpanda of Luduga Parish and Rev. Coletha Mhonjwa of Ilembula Parish. The service emphasized thanksgiving to God and the importance of vocational education in shaping the lives of young people and strengthening the community.

Holy Communion

Following the opening service, a Holy Communion Service was conducted by Rev. Jilaoneka Mpolo, uniting graduates, teachers, and guests at the Lord’s table, reminding them that Christ is the foundation of wisdom and skills acquired.

Sermon and Counsel

In his sermon, Rev. Sauli Mpimbi urged the graduates to use the skills they had gained for the benefit of both the nation and the church. He stressed that vocational education is a gift from God that should be applied creatively, fostering self-employment and contributing to social and spiritual development.

Commissioning Service

At the conclusion of the worship, Rev. Sauli Mpimbi led a commissioning service, officially sending the graduates into their professional and spiritual responsibilities. They were prayed for and encouraged to be witnesses of Christ through their vocational work and daily lives.

Festivities and Exhibitions

After the worship, the celebrations continued with exhibitions of various vocational skills. Guests and graduates toured the training booths, beginning with metal welding, followed by electrical installation, carpentry, and finally computer studies. These exhibitions showcased the creativity and practical expertise of the students, affirming the college’s role in preparing young people with employable skills.

Director’s Speech

In his remarks, Mr. Geofrey Kidodelo, Director of the College, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all invited guests for their presence and support. He extended special thanks to the donors, particularly the partner congregations from Germany, whose contributions have played a vital role in sustaining the college and enabling young people to access quality vocational education.

Principal’s Speech

The College Principal extended heartfelt thanks to all guests, government leaders, church representatives, and partners for their presence and support during the graduation. He emphasized the importance of vocational education in shaping responsible and skilled citizens.

In his brief address to the graduates, the Principal encouraged them to:

  • Apply their skills with integrity and creativity in serving both the nation and the church.
  • Remain lifelong learners, open to new knowledge and innovation.
  • Be role models in their communities, demonstrating discipline, faith, and professionalism.

He concluded by reminding the graduates that their journey is just beginning, and that their success will be measured not only by personal achievement but also by the positive impact they bring to society.

Indoor Celebrations

The festivities then moved to the college hall, hosted by MC Evangelist Bryson Mbilinyi. The event was graced by the Guest of Honor from the Office of the District Administrative Officer of Wanging’ombe, alongside government leaders from Ilembula Ward, church leaders from the diocesan headquarters, and various invited guests. The program featured speeches, congratulations, and entertainment, symbolizing the strong partnership between the church, government, and community in supporting vocational education.
