5th Southern Diocese Meeting of Pastors Held in Chimala

By the grace of God, from 26th to 28th August 2025, the pastors of the Southern Diocese have gathered at Igumbilo Girls’ School – Chimala for the Fifth Pastors’ Conference.

This conference is an important part of the spiritual journey and ministry leadership, aiming to strengthen fellowship, share knowledge, and pray for one another in the work of the Lord. It is a time for deep reflection on the pastoral calling, the challenges of ministry, and the opportunities to advance the gospel to this generation.

We thank God for enabling us to arrive safely, and for the loving reception we received from the people of Chimala. We believe that these three days will be of blessing, learning, and new direction for every pastor who attended.

AIM AND CONTENT OF THE CONFERENCE

The conference aimed to assess the state of pastoral ministry within the diocese, strengthen the solidarity of spiritual leaders, and provide an environment for continuous training for God’s servants. Through discussions, teachings, and worship, participants had the opportunity to reflect deeply on their vocation, the challenges they face, and new approaches to effectively advance the gospel.

TALENTED PREACHERS AND PROFESSIONAL TEACHINGS

  1. Bishop Rev. Dr. George Mark Fihavango

Subject: Lutheran Confessions

Bishop Fihavango taught in depth about the fundamentals of Lutheran confessions of faith, emphasizing the importance of correct confession in spiritual life and ministry. He opened our eyes to the role of confession in building true fellowship with God, and strengthening the ministry of pastors in all aspects of church life.

He explained in detail the fundamentals of correct confession, emphasizing its role in building true fellowship with God. His teachings touched the hearts of pastors and strengthened the understanding of Lutheran theology in daily ministry.

  1. Rev. Chediel Lwiza – Assistant Bishop, Eastern and Coast Diocese

Main text of the meeting: Proverbs 22:29a – “Have you seen a man skillful in his work?”

Pastor Lwiza taught us about diligence, honesty, and excellence in the performance of ministry. He emphasized that pastors should be an example of diligence, discipline, and wisdom in the work of the Lord, so that they can stand before people in positions of authority and bring about positive change in society.

Lesson: Protocol

Brother Mpinga taught us about leadership values, respect in positions of ministry, and how to communicate respectfully and effectively. His lesson taught us that protocol is not just a rule of courtesy, but a way to show the glory of God through order, discipline, and respect in ministry.

HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE AND FAREWELL FOR RETIRED PASTORES

The last day of the conference concluded with a Holy Communion Service, which was held with great calm and respect. During the service, a special farewell and prayer service was also held for the pastors who retired from 2022 onwards. It was a unique occasion to recognize their spiritual contribution, thank them for their faithfulness, and pray for them with love so that they may continue to be witnesses of the faith even outside of their official duties.

Words of encouragement, prayers of blessing, and songs of thanks accompanied the event, leaving the participants with feelings of gratitude, solidarity, and hope. The retired pastors were recognized as pillars of faith and teachers of the new generation of God’s servants.

A heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, all the participants, and the people of Chimala for the warm welcome and sincere cooperation. We thank God for enabling us to arrive safely, participate peacefully, and conclude with blessings. We continue to ask for the intercession of all the believers so that these teachings may bear fruit in our ministries and strengthen the body of Christ.

CONCLUSION

This conference has left a lasting mark on the hearts of pastors and spiritual leaders. It has strengthened fellowship, increased knowledge, and opened doors of new visions for the Lord’s ministry. The Southern Diocese continues to build a solid foundation for ministry for this generation and the next, for the glory of God.
