Nyimbo za Kibena Hymn Book Now Available

We are pleased to announce that the Nyimbo za Kibena hymn book is now officially available to the public. This book is a significant contribution to preserving and promoting the Bena language within the worship life of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT), featuring a rich collection of hymns and liturgical texts.

About the Book:
Nyimbo za Kibena contains a variety of Christian hymns written in the Bena language, along with liturgical elements used in ELCT worship services. Its structure and content closely resemble the widely used Tumwabudu Mungu Wetu hymn book, offering Bena-speaking congregants the opportunity to worship in their native language.

Compiled By:
The book was prepared by the Department of Christian Education – Literature Section, under the leadership of Rev. Obias Kilagwa, who oversaw the project with care and dedication to theological accuracy, cultural relevance, and linguistic integrity.

Official Launch:
The book was officially launched on July 29, 2025, during the morning worship service held at the Cathedral of the Southern Diocese, officiated by Bishop Dr. George Mark Fihavango. The event was attended by church members, leaders, and cultural stakeholders, marking a milestone in the celebration of Bena heritage through music and worship.
