9th Prayer and Revival Conference Held in Kidugala

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) Southern Diocese has successfully concluded its 9th Prayer and Revival Conference, which was held from 01 to 05 September 2025 in Kidugala District.

The conference brought together hundreds of believers, pastors, and spiritual leaders with the aim of strengthening prayer lives, bringing about spiritual revival, and praying for families, the nation, and the church as a whole.

Main Lesson: “Standing in Your Turn” — Habakkuk 2:1

This lesson encouraged believers to faithfully take their places in ministry, prayer, and spiritual leadership. Through the scriptures of Habakkuk, participants were encouraged to be watchmen of faith, patiently and diligently waiting for God’s direction.

Appreciation

On behalf of the diocesan leadership, Rev. Dr. Johnson Gudaga, who is the Secretary of the Evangelism and Mission Department, expressed gratitude to all who attended the conference from various regions. In his opening remarks, he recognized the contribution of each region and formally introduced the participants regionally, emphasizing spiritual unity and ministry partnership.

The conference was officially opened by the Bishop of the Southern Diocese of the ELCT, Rev. Dr. George Mark Fihavango, who thanked God for the successful preparation and success of the conference. In his speech, Bishop Fihavango emphasized the importance of walking with God in revival, explaining that true revival begins when one stands in one’s place and lives in spiritual obedience.

Major Speaker and His Assistants

The major speaker of the conference was the Bishop of the Anglican Church of the Diocese of Dar es Salaam, Reverend Jackson Sosthenes, who delivered a detailed lecture on the conference theme “Standing in Your Turn”. His lectures touched on spiritual life, biblical leadership, and the call of every believer to be faithful in their spiritual position.

Accompanying the major speaker was Rev. Canon Thomas Mwayela, who strongly emphasized the message of spiritual revival. Using scriptures from Matthew 13:24–26, he explained that it is time for every Christian to wake up from spiritual sleep, so that we do not suffer spiritual loss when the enemy sows’ weeds among the wheat.

Also accompanying the major speaker was Rev. Fr. Conte Mwasongwe, who taught on deliverance from various spiritual, emotional, and physical bondages. He urged believers to put their faith into action, emphasizing that faith without action is dead.

Many participants expressed being touched by the spiritual power that emerged, while others gave testimonies of changes in their lives. The conference concluded with a closing service and a charge to local churches to continue the fire of revival.

Closing and Announcement of the Next Conference

In closing the conference, Bishop Dr. George Mark Fihavango expressed gratitude to all the believers who participated, all the speakers, and the leaders who made the event a success. He used the opportunity to officially announce that the 10th Prayer and Revival Conference will be held again in Kidugala Diocese next year, urging the believers to continue to prepare spiritually and physically for the event.

“We have witnessed the hand of God here in Kidugala. And by His grace, we will be back here again next year for the 10th conference,” announced Bishop Fihavango.
